When the group met up last we all decided to go with the playful, contrasting and mysterious tone of voice so the next step was to brainstorm ideas for names and logos as well as any other ideas we had.
When we met up there was actually a discussion of an idea to include arcade games into a page layout for the zine or a poster which everyone was really positive about so my first step after the meeting was to recreate this in digital form to see if everyone was still so positive about the idea. I also tried to incorperate the overlapping images across the pages as this is something that John and I discussed as a way to play with the images. I really liked the digital outcomes of this design and think there a lot of scope for it to be developed at a further point once the shoot has taken place and we have the actual images as it may not work at that point.
I also did a lot of name brainstorming and logo ideas which was what the next step for the process. I had quite a few name ideas all revolving around the lights and contrast and there were quite a few I liked and I worked with ‘lucid’ to create my logo designs.
I really liked the logo with the mannequin and made a digital version however I didn’t take this any further.
At this point in the project getting a lot of feedback from people is quite hard so at these early stages it’s quite difficult to do a lot of design work away from the group. When we did meet up as a group only a few people had looked at my designs on the drive we have set up and those who did didn’t really like any of my name ideas and felt the logos were a bit too corporate and generic. They also said they felt more fashion factory and not brand which I can see and understand. I don’t mind these criticism at this early stage as it was all just brainstorming.
I think we need to revisit our main tone of voice to get a very strong understanding of our brand as a whole. We also need to prepare our proposal to present to the rest of fashion and the lecturers to get their feedback so I think that will be our next stage.
